The Caballo Mountains serve as a majestic backdrop for Caballo Lake State Park. The park boasts a full array of water recreation, winter waterfowl watching, and cactus gardens in bloom.

Boating, sailing, swimming, water skiing, fishing and windsurfing are some of the wet and wild activities available at the Park. Visitors can stroll among yuccas, century plants, ocotillos, prickly pears, and other desert cacti growing in the park's two cactus gardens. Most of these cactus provide beautiful blooms in late March and early April.

Directions: Caballo Lake State Park is 16 miles south of Truth or Consequences via I-25 exit 59 and NM 187..
